The biannual International Symposium on Aquatic Nutrition started in 1993 as a forum for topics related to shrimp nutrition, particularly with respect to Latin America. The species and regional focus has gradually expanded over the past six meetings. The forthcoming symposium aims to have a truly global focus. It will maintain the original format, where oral presentations are given by invited speakers on specific themes. This will be complimented by a poster session on original research work and an oral presentation of each poster. Simultaneous English-Spanish and Spanish-English translations will be provided.

Some of the topics for this year’s symposium are:
1. Alternative protein sources
2. Additives, attractants and immunostimulants
3. Digestibility and evaluation of ingredients and feeds
4. Process and quality control of aquatic feeds
5. Alternative feed management and feeding strategies
6. Standardization of chemical and biological assays for evaluating ingredients and feeds.

MY FAVOURITE RESOURCES

Dr. Van Dam HoatDr. Van Dam Hoat works as the Marketing Manager for AMASCO, a large feed additives distributor in Vietnam. He has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Agriculture and Forestry in Ho Chi Minh City in 1994. After working for another distributor of animal health products and feed additives, he moved to AMASCO in 2001. As a veterinarian who has to update himself on the feed industry, particularly the fast-growing aqua feed industry in Vietnam, what resources does he use? We asked him to list the top three websites he frequents while at work. His favorites are:

1. www.aquafeed.com
2. www.vetproducts.net
3. www.chinafeedonline.com
