Profile

Dr. George Chamberlain received his MS and Ph.D. from Texas A& M University and worked there as a researcher and Extension Aquaculture Specialist until 1990, when he joined Ralston Purina International as Director of Aquaculture. In 1999, he helped start an intensive shrimp farming project in Malaysia which now consists of SPF quarantine facilities, a hatchery, nursery raceways, 170 ponds, and a processing plant. As President of the World Aquaculture Society, Dr. Chamberlain helped organize World Aquaculture ’96 in Bangkok, the first WAS meeting in Asia. In 1997, he was instrumental in founding the Global Aquaculture Alliance, where he currently serves as President.
